RYI Symposium 2017
Rangjung Yeshe Institute, which is also the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies, celebrated its 20th anniversary this past weekend with a two-day conference on Transnational Buddhism. The participants heard presentations form 14 speakers, including two of the RYI faculty, and two of the khenpos (monastic professors) form Ka-Nying Monastery. Abbot & Founder of RYI, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, kicked off the event with a welcome teaching, after he and KU's vice-chancellor, Prof Dr Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, signed a renewal of the institutes agreement with Kathmandu University. My own talk was on Humanistic and Engaged Buddhism.
